The Kyzyl-Kum Desert…Barkhans
(sand-dunes), merciless sun, sparse islets of saxaul, camel’s-thorn
(alhagi) and sand, sand, sand… From time to time camels — these ‘ships
of the desert’ — appear and vanish on the horizon. A majestic view
unfolds as dunes roll ahead into the distance, as far as the eye can see.
The
most exotic part of the tour starts on the camel farm when the tourists
change their comfortable cars to camels- the only suitable form of
transport in the desert. Unforgettable impressions of camelback riding,
watching the beautiful sunset, its colours bleeding into the shimmering
sands on the horizon, overnight in yurts (Kazakh collapsible tents),
exotic national dishes and ceremonies, picnics and fishing on Aydarkul
Lake, plus sightseeing tours in such famous ancient cities as Khiva,

1. The personal stuff of a participant of this camel trekking tour should include the following:
Comfortable
well-fitting cotton dress (breeches, t-shirt), a cap, spare set of
warm clothes ( in case tour is made early spring or late autumn)
sunglasses, personal belongings, sunburn-proof lotion or cream,
moisturizing cream for hands, a towel, comfortable sport footwear
personal first-aid kit, a torch, flask for water, repellent.

Karmana town, with further destination to
Nurata town, 75 km to the north).

camel guide on camel riding
techniques, tourists will have an
opportunity to get some practical skills

After striking the camp tourists will mount the
camels again and will ride to Sugar well (20
km).

Leaving the camels in the camp which is to be
set up near the well, tourists can walk to the
nearby shepherds’ settlement Dongalyak to
get acquainted with life of local people.
